Feng Cha: Taiwan’s Bubble Tea Shop in Degla, Maadi

Today was the 4th day of Eid-Holiday, My little sister who is currently studying Japanese in her third-year college and our family’s tiny Asian culture-obsessed girl took me to try an unpopular small place we came by while hanging out in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt.

At first, I wasn’t so encouraged, it looked weird and I didn’t understand what it is, and figuring out that “Feng Cha“ means “Serve Tea Respectfully” didn’t make it look much better to someone like me who hates tea in all its flavours and I even tried iced tea before but it was even much worse.

But for someone who craves any new kind of experience, I couldn’t resist getting into the shop with her and figuring it out.

We tried out (Cheezo & Juicy Peach), It was sweet, creamy, rich, dense, and quite flavourful. The small tapioca balls are chewy and bouncy, I have never tasted something like that ever before, and it’s topped with frothy sweet cheese, which gives the beverage a foamy texture. It’s a Feng Cha signature topping, and it is a unique flavour that is quite unusual to taste in a drink.

It doesn’t taste any like tea -if you’re a tea lover- but it’s too yummy 😋 You won’t help but fall in love with the lovely variety of colours, flavours, and textures in the Juice Cups. 🥤🥰

I found that it is an incredibly underrated hidden gem, and I decided to share it with you here 😄

The small cozy spot has a few outdoor tables and a couple inside; it’s more of a quick-stop shop, however, the drinks are better enjoyed as you stroll down Street 232 rather than sitting.

Feng Cha is perfect for a post-dinner dessert or an afternoon beverage pick-me-up, it is worth a try and a distinct experience for first-timers.

The store opens daily from 11 AM to 11 PM.
